YTSK II: Chapter XXVII
"You know, it's funny how easy all of this is", Yan says as she stands on top of the burning people's chamber. "Juq tries to kill me with a black hole, and I just trick him into ending his life on another planet. Tenax leads a raid on the Videomapistani capitol, and I just send him flying to his death. Orion tries to sabotage me, and, well..." Yan looks at the incoming Russian-leased plane, awaiting the impending nuclear strike.
Shortly after, at 4:40 AM, a blinding flash of white light erupts in the sky, instantly transforming the night into a nightmarish inferno. The shockwave follows a split second later, radiating outwards with an unstoppable force.
The shockwave hits Cartograville like an invisible sledgehammer, obliterating everything in its path. The impact is so devastating that it shatters windows miles away from ground zero and sends shockwaves rippling through the ground, causing massive fissures to crack open.
Buildings closest to the epicenter are reduced to rubble in an instant. Their steel frames twist and buckle as if they are made of paper, and debris is sent hurtling through the air in all directions. The cacophony of collapsing structures mixes with the deafening roar of the explosion, creating a symphony of destruction that reverberates throughout the city.
As the initial shockwave subsides, a massive mushroom cloud begins to rise into the sky. It is a dark, ominous column of smoke and debris, illuminated by the intense fires raging below. The cloud looms over Cartograville, casting a chilling shadow that stretches for miles.
The intense heat generated by the explosion ignites fires throughout the city. Flames erupt from shattered buildings, spreading rapidly through the debris-strewn streets. The air itself seems to catch fire, as waves of intense heat wash over the city, incinerating anything in their path. Those who had been stuck in traffic jams, unable to escape the city in time, were incinerated en masse.
The fires merge into a colossal firestorm that engulfs entire city blocks. The inferno creates its own winds, whipping through the streets with a ferocity that defies imagination. Thick, acrid smoke billows into the sky, further darkening the already ominous scene.
As the fires rage, a deadly radioactive plume begins to spread outward from ground zero. It taints the air with invisible, toxic particles and contaminates everything it touches. Those who have survived the initial blast now face a new and insidious threat.
The fallout settles on the city, coating it in a lethal radioactive dust. Buildings that have somehow remained standing are now covered in a grayish film, and the once-vibrant streets are rendered uninhabitable. Those who have been unable to evacuate or find shelter now face the harrowing effects of radiation exposure.
Cartograville, once a bustling metropolis, has been reduced to a nightmarish hellscape. The devastation is on a scale that defies comprehension, leaving behind a haunting silence broken only by the crackling of flames and the distant, desperate cries of survivors. The city has been irrevocably transformed, its very soul scarred by the horrors of nuclear destruction.
Amid the apocalyptic scene, Yan stands unscathed, her form untouched by the cataclysmic event. As the shockwave and radiation wash over her, they seem to bend and fade, leaving her untouched by their deadly effects. She watches as the city crumbles around her, a malevolent smile playing on her lips.
"One by one, they fall like flies. Just a formality on my path to victory.", Yan whispers before jumping off the ruins the destroyed people's chamber and descending down to the streets. She wants to try and inspect the ruins of the city more closely. As she walks, a grenade explodes in her face. "WHAT WAS THAT?", she yells. A soldier emerges from a damaged building. "That was me. We, the Mapperdonian army, have survived in the underground metro and weathered the storm. We deny you your victory." "DENY THIS", Yan says before shooting him dead. Afterwards, another soldier throws a flash grenade at Yan, blinding her before she hears a mass of troops rapidly leaving the metro. Her eyesight will take a few minutes to recover, so she can't target them. "God, how many troops are still in this fucking city? Oh well, guess I'll have to rely on advance of the army to clean the last bacteria off this carcass." Yan then teleports back to the Videomapistani parliament building.
The news is relayed to Bace: "Yan has teleported away from this city in the face of continued resistance". Tears of joy gleam in Bace's eyes. "We did it. We've stopped Yan from completing her plan. Our survival on this day is a statement of defiance against Videomapistani tyranny." He then wipes the tears off his face. "However, this is not the end of our crusade to save Mapperdonia. A new Russo-Videomapistani offensive is expected to descend upon Cartograville within the next few days. When the onslaught renews, we must remain viligant!"
Several minutes later, Bace opens his phone.
[CherepashkaShusha 4:18] Just a heads up: Cartograville will get nuked at 4:40 AM. Get your troops to seek shelter as soon as possible.
[Bace Bulgarian Mapper 4:18] on it
[Bace Bulgarian Mapper 4:52] Shusha, I cannot thank you enough. You're a livesaver.
[Bace Bulgarian Mapper 4:53] Literally and figuratively.
[CherepashkaShusha 4:53] Ha
[Bace Bulgarian Mapper 4:54] Thanks to you, Mapperdonia can continue the fight. We didn't make this damn war, but we sure as hell will win it!
[CherepashkaShusha 4:54] Godspeed!
Meanwhile, Tenax is currently flying towards Yan's base at R'lyeh. Zed makes a remark: "If I was given a penny every darn time I narrowly dodged a nuclear boom by takin' to the skies, I'd have me a grand total of two pennies. Now, that ain't no big heap of cash, but it sure is strange that it happened twice." DRM laconically replied: "real".
DH: "Excellent, we've made it alive. We are on our way to R'lyeh, to defeat Yan Xishan once and for all! Just to be clear, can we rehearse the plan?"
"да!", Tenax exclaims. "So, we will use this plane here to fly to R'lyeh. Once we have reached our desired location, we will start flying circles to stay close. Then, Shusha will 'find' Dodo in a hospital, and call Yan to inform her that the filibusterer she was looking for is lying right next to him, which will prompt Yan to ambush Dodo and teleport him to her lair, to prevent him from using his bat form to escape a second time. Then Dragon Historian will form a force field" - "*energy barrier*" - "Fine. Dragon Historian will form an EneRgy bArriEr to create a bubble of air around him. Then we will jump out of the plane using the force fi-sigh I mean, eNErGy BarriEr, and sink to the ocean floor before reaching the sunken city proper. Then we will enter Yan's lair while she is torturing Dodo, and throw the biology textbook at her. This will do a vast amount of spritual damage by inflicting gender dysphoria, and Yan will burn like a vampire, her soul will be destroyed, and then, the world will be saved. Do you understand all that?" The squad nods. "Alright, we'll be there tomorrow. We have only one shot, so it's do or die."
